The word for today is - Prayer- part one !

The word for today is - Prayer- part one !

Throughout the Bible, we find many instances of God's people praying and God answering their prayers. Why did God answer their prayers? Its because of their hearts were right with God. You have to understand that a successful prayer requires something first, a humble heart, inorder to hear from God.  Read 2 Chronicles 7:14,If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.Read  1 Timothy 2:1-6,I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time. Get this, He did it for the believers, you and me! Jesus is the greatest intercessor of all time! Jesus prayed for those who crucified Him, read Luke 23:34,Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots. Jesus prayed for His disciples and for the believers throughout eternity in John 17:1-10,These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee: As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him. And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was. I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word. Now they have known that all things whatsoever thou hast given me are of thee. For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me. I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine. And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them. The word of God tells us if any one of us lack understanding of the will of God then ask Him, read  James 1:5,If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. Lets look at Moses, God miraculously answered many of Moses' prayers including the parting the Red Sea Exodus 14:19-21,And the angel of God, which went before the camp of Israel, removed and went behind them; and the pillar of the cloud went from before their face, and stood behind them: And it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel; and it was a cloud and darkness to them, but it gave light by night to these: so that the one came not near the other all the night. And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the Lord caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided. And He gave the Israelites good water in the wilderness read Exodus 15:24-25.And the people murmured against Moses, saying, What shall we drink? And he cried unto the Lord; and the Lord shewed him a tree, which when he had cast into the waters, the waters were made sweet: there he made for them a statute and an ordinance, and there he proved them,  Perhaps the most miraculous answer that God gave to Moses was when Moses prayed that God would spare Israel after the incident with the golden calf read Exodus 32:11-14,And Moses besought the Lord his God, and said, Lord, why doth thy wrath wax hot against thy people, which thou hast brought forth out of the land of Egypt with great power, and with a mighty hand? Wherefore should the Egyptians speak, and say, For mischief did he bring them out, to slay them in the mountains, and to consume them from the face of the earth? Turn from thy fierce wrath, and repent of this evil against thy people. Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, thy servants, to whom thou swarest by thine own self, and saidst unto them, I will multiply your seed as the stars of heaven, and all this land that I have spoken of will I give unto your seed, and they shall inherit it for ever. And the Lord repented of the evil which he thought to do unto his people. Wow, thats powerful!  Now lets look at the Prophet Daniel. Daniel's whole walk was spent in prayer with God, his prayers were miraculously answered. Daniel prayed to be shown the king's undisclosed dream and God answered him, in chapter 2:17-18. Daniel was thrown to the lions because he continually prayed to God and God spared him, read Daniel 6:4-24. Daniel prayed for Israel and for forgiveness of their sins when the 70 years of captivity were nearing an end. God answered Daniel's prayer by sending Gabriel to tell him exactly when the Messiah would come, read Daniel chapter 9. The question that people are asking is this, does God hear and answer prayer? Yes, God hears every prayer, but God does not answer every prayer. You have to understand that every prayer that you pray is not the will of God. You must  pray according to God’s will. It is possible to pray wrong. We will not get what we pray for if we pray according to our own selfish will. We need to know God’s will when we pray; Read  Ephesians 5:17,Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. Also read Romans 12:2, And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Also   Read 1 John 5:14-15,And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him. God wants us to pray together, two or more, God says, in Matthew 18:19,Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. Thank you Lord for your word. Amen !
