The word for today is - Listen !

Most of the time we can not hear from God because, we're asking for things that we want and we're not listening. Read James 1:17-20,Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God. Notice that it says every good gift comes from our Father in heaven. Also we must be "quick to listen" to hear from God. We also need to listen when others are talking,because others are going through problems sometimes.It's so easy to just blow someone off when they come to you with a problem, because your not listening. We seem to use this verse, "I'll be praying for you" and walk away.But the bible has something to say about that, read James 2:14-17,What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him? If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. You see our mission by God is to listen first, then speak or do something for your brother or sister in Christ. Its the same thing when we are talking with our Heavenly Father, we have to listen to hear from God. Your human brain is incapable of understanding God. You cannot comprehend the things that He has for us. We cannot comprehend the depths of what grace, salvation, love, and forgiveness actually means. As humans we have a tendency to reject the things of God because they are "impossible," "illogical," or "ridiculous." What are we going to do? How can we develop a closer relationship with God if it is impossible to understand His ways? You have to understand that God has and will reveal everything to us, by His word.He is the way, the truth, and the light. He is our comforter, the Holy Spirit, its the Spirit of God that dwells within us. The bible says,"But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.Read John10:25-28,Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father's name, they bear witness of me. But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you. My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. Did you get that? Jesus said we hear His voice. It didn't say, "My sheep recognize my voice as written in their Bibles." It didn't say, "As my sheep read my words out loud they, then hear my voice in the words they are reading." It says, "MY SHEEP HEAR MY VOICE!" Thank you Lord for speaking to us. Let us listen for the voice and sound of God for this year! Thank you Lord for your word. Amen !
