The word for today is- Freedom !

Good morning,
The word for today is- Freedom !

As U.S. citizens we celebrate our freedom on Independence Day, thanking our founding fathers for giving us our liberty. As believers, we also celebrate our freedom in Christ and the sacrifice he made to set us free from sin and death. What does the Bible say about Freedom and Independence ? There are no verses with “Freedom” or “Independence” in them. There are 58 verses in the King James Bible, that talks about , being free or liberty. Here are two verses to look at, 1 Peter 2:15-16,For this is the will of God, that by doing good you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men as free, yet not using liberty as a cloak for vice, but as bondservants of God.  Read Galatians 5:1, Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage. As believers, we take so much for granted. We have freedom of speech. We have freedom to worship. We can attend the Church of our choice. God created us, he gave us freedom of choice.  We can choose to believe in him or not.  There is no gray area. When we continue to make bad choices or do evil against others, we choose to walk in the flesh.  But when we live for God, we become free from sin and our Spirit is renewed, by the Spirit of God. It says in the Bible, “For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death. But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of the Spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.” It is the freedom that comes with being a disciple of Jesus Christ. “If you abide in my word,” our Lord declares, “you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”In the book of Exodus, God chose Moses to lead the Israel people out of Egypt as slaves of Pharaoh.  They had been slaves for hundreds of years and wanted to be set free.  God heard them and decided to answer their prayers. Read Exodus 6:6-7 it says, Therefore say to the children of Israel: ‘I am the LORD; I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, I will rescue you from their bondage, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with great judgments. I will take you as My people, and I will be your God. Then you shall know that I am the LORD your God who brings you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians. We are free to praise you, Lord . For this I am very thankful ! We need to remind ourself of who have made the greatest sacrificed for our freedom, who is Jesus Christ. Speak to yorself, lets not take our freedom, both physical and spiritual, for granted. You see  Satan's job is to keep us enslaved, by not knowing the truth, we can receive through Jesus Christ. You must believe in Jesus, and know in your heart for yourself that, He has set you free. Jesus knew the whole truth.  He was speaking and doing the will of His Father, and yet His words only set those free who were ready to be set free. So, the word from God tells us that, Whom the Son sets free is free indeed. Read Colossians 1:13-14,He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins. Thank you Lord for your word. Amen !
