The weekend message for the beloved Children of God is - Godly Counsel ! 

 

We have to make decisions everyday. Some decisions will be easy, and other times decisions will be very hard to make. Some people will be looking to others for strong counsel in the decisions they make.Unfortunately sometimes people refuse to seek counsel because of pride. Read 1 Corinthians 2:14-15, But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.When a situation arises in your life, who do you seek counsel from? Life comes with challenges and decisions that are not easy to make on our own sometimes. Understand that there is two kinds of counsel, one Godly and the other ungodly counsel, read Proverbs 12:5-6, The thoughts of the righteous are right: but the counsels of the wicked are deceit.The words of the wicked are to lie in wait for blood: but the mouth of the upright shall deliver them. In these times it can be helpful to seek the counsel of other wise and godly people.We may pray about the situation and read God’s Word for guidance, but still feel confused and uncertain about the direction we should take. Let us look at the story of Moses, he had a personal relationship with God. He spoke to God and God spoke to him. People came to Moses, and people will be coming to the believers also. So, this is the time when we can speak about the greatest teacher of all time (Jesus). When we follow the teachings of God’s Word, He guides our path and provides knowledge to make wise choices for us and others. Read it by the NIV-Bible,(I want everyone to understand this) Exodus 18:15-20,Moses answered him, “Because the people come to me to seek God’s will.Whenever they have a dispute, it is brought to me, and I decide between the parties and inform them of God’s decrees and instructions.”Moses’ father-in-law replied, “What you are doing is not good. You and these people who come to you will only wear yourselves out. The work is too heavy for you; you cannot handle it alone.Listen now to me and I will give you some advice, and may God be with you. You must be the people’s representative before God and bring their disputes to him. Teach them his decrees and instructions, and show them the way they are to live and how they are to behave. Heavenly Father, teach us the way that we should live. Let us submit to your authority.We need your counsel, we cry out to you today. Let our decisions line up with your word. Let our words to others be Godly Counsel and Truth. Thank you Lord for your word. Amen !
